Long & Foster; the beginning!
As I'm sure all my readers know, I'm a Realtor with Long & Foster Real Estate. And I have some news that I just had to share with you! I've read all I can about Long & Foster Real Estate and how the company was started and I finally got to meet one of the founders in person! I had the honor of meeting Mr. P. Wesley Foster, Jr. himself!
P. Wesley Foster, Jr. is founder, chairman and chief executive officer of The Long & Foster Companies —Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc., Prosperity Mortgage Company, Mid-States Title Insurance Agency, Inc., and Long & Foster Insurance Agency, Inc. He founded Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc. in 1968, along with a partner, Henry A. Long. Wes Foster handled the residential real estate arm of the business and Henry Long handled commercial. In July 1979, Mr. Foster became sole owner and Long & Foster has grown to the largest privately-owned real estate company in America. Wes Foster is a founding member of The Leading Real Estate Companies of the World and the Realty Alliance, both of which are trade groups consisting of the nation's leading brokers.
When I first meant Mr. Foster, I shook his hand and introduced myself to him as Shanell Robinson, a Realtor with his great company! And you know what happened next? He took a closer look at my face and said are you sure…at first I thought, of course I'm sure, but then he finished his sentence with "because you look like you're only 12 years old!" Now that made me laugh! I took that as a compliment…what women doesn't want to look young!?! I went on talking with him for just a few minutes before he was swept away by the next person who wanted to meet him. Meeting Mr. Foster in person was such a great experience I had to share it with you! If you haven't already guessed the picture at the top, to the left is the picture I got to take with Mr. Wesley Foster, Jr.
