You know, they usually say that it's the smallest things that make the biggest difference and there is no better example than the one I'm about to tell you. I showed a married couple 3 homes located here in Woodbridge, VA. The husband had just got moved to a army base here in VA and needed a new home by March 2010. The first home was nice, but the current homeowners had about 100 pounds of wood and cement bags in their driveway, as if there were going to have some new construction done to the house or had just finished. Now even though the house was a beautiful colonial home in a pristine neighborhood, they were both immediately turned off because of the first impression they got before they even entered the home.
The second home we visited in Woodbridge was even bigger, with all new updates throughout the home. It was even listed for $5,000 less than the previous home, but sadly the couple hated the home. WHY? Well it was 110 degrees outside and about 90 degrees inside the home. My clients were so hot and irritated that they didn’t even bother to check the backyard of the home, all because of a thermostat not being set at a comfortable setting.
They eventually became new homeowners, and now currently live here in Woodbridge, VA. But the point of this chit chat blog is that, when selling your home, don’t forget the little things. Most people concentrate on their price and the marketing of the home, but it is the little things that will get your home sold much faster, and possibly for even more.
