The program expired April 30th, 2010, but home buyers who signed a written contract with a closing date before July 1, 2010 may still have a chance to claim the credit. The good news is that there are other programs and incentives out there for first time home buyers. For example, many states offer outright cash grants for the down payment and closing costs to first time home buyers who meet certain income qualifications.
