Our goal is to raise money and awareness to help support the current issue of the over population of pets. So many pets are not spayed or neutered which has a huge ripple effect and is causing more pets to end up in our animal shelters. On the other end of the tail, so many animals are being abused, neglected, and even abandoned. Some have found their way to a local shelter, but now those same animals need a new home and a new family to give them the love and care they deserve. We feel that the best way to help everyone is by making the community aware of the situation and educating them on what we all can do to make a difference.
The event will take place on October 16th located at 13875 Hedgewood Dr, Woodbridge, VA 22193; right across from Bob Evans restaurant! from 10:00 am-3:00 pm.
It is a 2 mile walk, which is approximately a 40-50 min walk.
There will be FREE food, FREE refreshments, and snacks, as well as doggy goodies and purified water for your furry family members.
Several vendors will be present, such as dog trainers, animal chefs & toy makers, an adoption area with information desk, and even a PWSPCA member sign up stand.

FAQ’S
Q: How do I make a donation and is there a certain amount
A: All individuals over the age of 18 must donate no less than $5 per person
Making a donation is simple! The day of the event make your donation at the sign in/registration table!
Q: Do I have to bring a dog?
A: No. Anyone can walk with or without a dog. People often choose to walk in memory of a beloved companion animal. You may also want to borrow a dog from a friend or neighbor who cannot come.
Q: Can I bring my cat?
A: Cats are certainly welcome; however as a general rule we do not encourage owners to bring their feline friends. The reason for this is that while some cats may be trusting and comfortable around dogs, there are literally hundreds of dogs at our event and not all dogs are trustworthy around cats or other small animals. We will not be responsible for any accidents.
Q: Does my dog have to be leashed?
A: Yes. The ‘poop and scoop’ by-law also applies to all dogs. Please bring your own bags (emergency bags are available if needed).
Q: Are there any rules as to the size or breed of dogs we can bring to the walkathon?
A: There are no rules on size of dog or breed in the walkathon as long as they are leashed.
Q: Will you 'loan' dogs for the day of the Wag-a-tail-a-thon event?
A: A few of the shelter dogs will be present, those that play well with others. If you are dogless, an option is to borrow a friend's dog for the day of the walkathon, or better yet, invite them to join you!
Q: Can I register to walk the day of the walkathon?
A: To avoid confusion, we ask that people register prior to the event. You can however, still register to walk the day of, but please arrive early to avoid the rush.
Q: Is there a fee if I attend the walk with my baby or child?
A: There is no registration fee for babies or children 18 and under accompanying their registered parent or guardian.
Q: If a friend, family member, or guest wants to join me in the walk, do they have to register?
A: Friends and guests of registered walkers are encouraged to register as participants.
